Q.  How long does an average MRI scan take to complete?
A.  Usually about 30 minutes unless it is an advanced scan requiring contrast dye.  Then it would take about 50 minutes.

Q.  Does my whole body have to be in the MRI scanner?
A.  The part of your body that is being imaged must be in the center of the machine.  But this is a short bore MRI magnet, so your head is close to one end or the other.

Q.  Can someone go into the MRI scanning room with me during my scan?
A.  Yes, as long as they do not have on any thing metal.

Q.  What is the preparation for an MRI scan?
A.  Do not wear jewelry, make up or any type of metal to your appointment.  No other preparation is necessary.

Q.  How will I receive my MRI results?
A.  Your ordering doctor will contact you with your results.

Q.  Can anyone have an MRI scan?
A.  You cannot have an MRI scan if you have a pacemaker or certain types of metal inside your body.  You should not have an MRI if you are in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
